Sharing the Gospel
Sharing the Gospel[Romans 10:13-15, 17 NKJV] For "whoever calls on the name of the LORD shall be saved." How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher? And how shall they preach unless they are sent? As it is written: "How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the gospel of peace, Who bring glad tidings of good things!" "So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God." The world needs to hear the gospel. For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son to die for each and every person in the world. And now he has given us, His children, the privilege of bringing that message of salvation to the world. It's interesting that God has chosen us to be the ones to bring His message to the world. Sometimes I think it would be a lot more effective if God Himself opened up the skies and proclaimed the gospel to the world Himself every so often. But yet He's chosen me. Wow. And truly I can attest to what Paul says in 1 Cor. 1:27, when he says, "God has chosen the foolish things of the world to put to shame the wise" and "the weak things of the world to put to shame the things which are mighty." That's me right there! But God receives glory by using the unlikely to accomplish great things. Some would like to think that they are excluded from being "sent" or "preaching". "That is the pastors job", they say. "I'm just an ordinary Christian, I don't preach, I'm not an evangelist!" But sharing the gospel is not just a privilege but a command from Jesus Himself to every Christian (Matt. 28). God doesn't want us to be closet Christians and miss out on the blessing and growth that comes from sharing His Word. I think that is part of the reason why He doesn't just do the job all Himself. "So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God." You never know who the Lord wants to use you to impact with His Word, which is"living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart." (Heb. 4:12) How powerful do you think the Word of God really is?Read the Word. Memorize the Word. Meditate day and night in the Word as the Psalmist says. And speak the Word of God. "How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard?" "So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God." Meditate on these words and ask God to give you opportunity this week to share His Word with someone. Want to find out more about what it means to have a personal relationship with God?
