The Christians that Cry Wolf
Anonymous - April 18, 2014

The Christians that Cry Wolf “Nevertheless I tell you the truth. It is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you; but if I depart, I will send Him to you. “And when He has come, He will convict the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment:”

Sooo, Jesus was raised from the dead and ascended into heaven. He instructed us in what to do and told us how He was going to come back (Acts 1:9-11) Are we doing our job? Are we obedient to preach the Gospel and make disciples until we see Jesus coming in the clouds?!

Fast forward to April 2014. Blood Moon = End of the world!!!

Now, if these were secular people who were saying these things, I don’t think it would bother me as much; but it’s not. It’s Christians who feel it’s necessary to remind us, all too often, that the end of the world is upon us. I wonder, how does that make us look to the unbelieving world? Besides, is that what Jesus told us to do? Did He tell us to, “WARN THE WORLD THAT THE DESTRUCTION OF THEIR LIVES IS IMMINENT!” No, that wasn't His instruction. In fact, whenever He talks to us about the end, it’s for OUR benefit. Not the rest of the world.

So why the fear mongering? One of the Pastors that stands out in front during this current lunar eclipse (which we witnessed on Monday night) not only wants to scare non-believers into conversion, but he’s also tried it in the past, saying that the world would end in 2012. My question is, how many times can certain Christians cry wolf and expect to still have an affect in reaching the lost? How tragic when that day truly comes and the world scoffs and says, “Oh here they go again, those weirdos talking about the end of the world”

Not to mention, has anyone told these guys that there has been over one hundred lunar eclipses since Jesus hung on the cross? Over one hundred! Could you imagine if someone yelled about the end of the world being here at each eclipse? It has happened, and to be honest, the world is more aware than we know. They know, and the Holy Spirit testifies that the end is near. Hollywood makes movies and bands write songs and people talk about and know deep down that it’s only a matter of time. So… Why not share the love of God and the truth of His Word instead? Yes, let’s focus on what Jesus instructed us to do and not on scaring people into Godly submission.
