Did you know that God wants you to know who He is? God says so clearly in His word and also through things like His creation! Getting to know God and who He is the most important decision you can make and is the first step toward living your life with God.
If you’ve found yourself here, wondering what it means to have a relationship with God, then this is the section for you. The reason that we gather together and read the Bible is so that we can understand and know who God is. We do no have our own opinions of God or a philosophy of who He is; God’s intentions towards us are clearly spelled out in the Bible.
THE FACT IS, GOD WANTS YOU TO KNOW WHO HE IS.
Although God wants you to know who He is, there is something that has hindered our relationship with Him since Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden. Sin. Sin isn’t just something bad, it is doing things our way and for our own sake. Sin is rejecting God and who the Bible says He is. Sin is defining who God is based on who we want Him to be in order to benefit ourselves. This is what the world has done, they mischaracterize God and re-define who they want Him to be, or say that He doesn’t exist at all…
The answer is realizing that you have been living for yourself and become comfortable in sin. Romans 3:23 says, “all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God”.
ALL MEANS EVERYONE.
Everyone, to some degree or another, has preferred themselves over the knowledge of God. Thankfully, God fixed this problem by sending His son, Jesus of Nazareth, to the earth to pay the ultimate penalty of sin, which is death. Romans 6:23 says, “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” We all will die, but by believing in Jesus, that He died and rose from the dead, dying to pay the penalty of sin, we are reconciled to God! That reconciliation means that we can truly know who He is and live forever with Him in heaven. How do you know if you believe?
This is all that is required to start your relationship with God and begin to know Him. Ephesians 2:8 says, “For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast.” Cry out to God, ask Him to forgive you of your sins through Jesus’ sacrifice, ask Him to reveal Himself to you, and submit yourself to Him.
THIS IS THE GRACE OF GOD TO YOU, IT IS A FREE GIFT.
