> > The heart of Paradise Calvary Chapel’s mission.

God loves us and wants us to know Him on a personal level, and the primary way we can do that is through the Bible. The more we study what God says, the more we get to know Him. God engages us not only as individuals, but also corporately; He uses our relationships with others to teach us about Himself. Acts 2:42 says that the early church “continued steadfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and in prayers.”  Paradise Calvary Chapel, like the early church, is a community of believers who worship God together and cultivate each other with the Word, verse by verse, chapter by chapter.

Many people can’t honestly say that they love God in return, and that’s probably because they don’t know Him. Perhaps they have never experienced Him, or they have acquired a false perspective of Him. The more we truly get to know God, the more we’ll love Him. Romans 5:8 says, “God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” Humanity was once separated from God, unable to know Him, but because of His loving sacrifice in Jesus, we now have an opportunity to respond to God’s love. We can receive it and reciprocate it by engaging in relationship with Him.

Jesus told His disciples in John 15 that if they would abide in Him, they would bear much fruit. In other words, by being in relationship with Him, they would naturally produce a lifestyle that reflected His goodness. The more our love is centered around God, the more our lifestyle will testify of Him to the world around us. Jesus said, “I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.” At Paradise Calvary Chapel, our desire is to know God, so that we might love God, so that we might live abundant lives that declare the redemptive reality of Jesus to the broken, hurting, and dying world in which we live.
